Welcome to Music at Penn's Woods

Spotlight

As quickly as it starts, it seems to end. Music at Penn's Woods' 2015 summer concerts will be in the books after Saturday night's final orchestra concert. Yet, the memories of the sounds will linger for a long time! If you have been to one of the first three concerts, you will agree that the performances have been exceptional this summer. Audiences have applauded the hard work of the musicians—even with a mid-concert standing ovation last Saturday night.

One of the challenges a festival like Music at Penn's Woods faces is how to program repertoire that isn't all Beethoven, yet still have audiences purchase tickets. Two words that come to mind are reputation and trust. The second Wednesday night concert is slated with two lesser-known American composers (Robert Muczynski and William Grant Still) and German-born composer Johannes Brahms. A quick Google search on each of these composers produces an impressive list of compositions, and firsts in the classical music world.
